In my opinion, everyone should have their own freedom of speech or freedom of expression. However, some thoughts or expressions might upset somebody, and we might not realize it. So, I think that if we are at school with a lot of teenagers, the school should have the right to set some limits to our freedom of speech or expression. This would be good so, everyone can feel comfortable being at school without being offended. From the article, “High School Should not have Banned "Redneck" t-shirt,” I think that it’s a big deal for that person to not wear a Redneck t-shirt to school, but those people might think differently. It might be because of their race or their society, which lets them want to fight for their own rights.

  1. Hey I think you have a good point because no one in our society would like to get offended or get hurt because of something offensive. That's the case with most schools because teenagers and younger adults don't quite have the discipline or maturity to be able to wear offensive clothing or express how they feel about the president. None the less our nation just has to work on knowing what's accepted and not accepted in our society.

  2. I agree. Maybe even a good handful of these students wear these shirts without even realizing what they are saying to people. And your also right, that students that DO know what they are saying, should respect those who DO take offense to t-shirts that say redneck.

  3. I think the problem is where we draw the line. Some people beliefs will offend other people beliefs. I think it’s something that never clearly determined but something that we continue to try and find a balance on.

  4. Your right about people defending their stance in society or within their race. Many people feen strongly about expressing themselves in these ways. Sometimes authority does need to step in to provide safe, loving enviroments at shool.

  5. I really thought about it that way. You have a really good point. Sometimes things that we find okay might not be okay to other people, for the fact that they have different beliefs hadn't .
